Session Information
FAQ
When should I book my session?
Maternity: Maternity sessions are best done around 32 weeks. Every mom carries and is built differently though so the ideal time to come is when you are obviously showing but before you get too uncomfortable. I love to incorporate dad and older siblings as well!
Newborn: It’s never too early, it’s not unusual to have a mom call and book us as soon as she finds out she’s expecting! Because we never know *exactly* when that bundle of joy will arrive I’ll put you down for the week you’re due and then you just call when baby is born for exact day and time. I also know that a newborn session is not something you can put off so even if I’m booked with regular sessions I always allow time in our schedule to fit in newborns! Newborns are best photographed between 3 and 5 days old. They are sleepy, bendy and will let us do just about anything…. and no baby acne! As you can see in our gallery clothing is discouraged!
Babies: For baby’s first year I suggest Newborn, Six months, and 12 months. Some mom’s like to capture them at 3 and 9 months as well, I like babies at all ages and am happy to see them any time. To ensure I have openings for all of your babies milestone sessions you are welcome to book them in advance.
Families: Due to the size of the studio I am unable to accommodate families indoors (mom and dad can always jump in with baby sessions but for full sized families we are limited by space). Take advantage of the great outdoors for your family during the warm summer months or the beautiful fall foliage. Being outside will allow us plenty of space for creative posing and lots of variety. Call for information and I can help you choose a location that reflects your family’s style!
Seniors: I love doing seniors any time during the year but the best time is while it’s nice outside. We can get the best variety for your session by going outside, I love finding fun new locations too so call me and we can chat about a place you will love!
What should we bring?
I love it when clients bring things that are special to them to a session. Some ideas are family heirlooms like baptism gowns, baby blankets, baby rattles, bonnets etc. A child’s favorite stuffed animal, blanket, toy or items to incorporate a favorite sports team. For birthday sessions, balloons, birthday cake and/or birthday crown. I keep a great selection of props on hand but items that belong to you truly make it special.
How many outfits can we wear?
Baby’s generally tolerate about three changes during a session before they let us know the fun is over! Bring babies in a onesie (something easy to change out of) and we’ll generally start with naked and then move on to outfits. You can change as many times as time allows, just keep in mind baby’s own time limit!
What should we wear?
Avoid distracting patterns, logos, horizontal stripes. Don’t forget the little details like belts and dress socks with dress shoes. Check to be sure when your child is sitting that his pants are long enough to cover his ankles. Bare feet are adorable!
How many backdrops and props can we have?
Unlimited! I want to have fun and capture as may different looks for you as we can in the time we have together.
