We’ll take a little newborn break for today and I’ll show off this beautiful family.  This was a fun session because we went to their friends’ house who live out in the country surrounded by beautiful woods.  The colors were just beautiful that day and I loved having a new location to explore….although my husband did laugh at me when I told him I’d be tromping around in woods.  My family loves to geo cache (did I even spell that right lol?) and I went one time with them and have politely declined any other invitations.  Of course my kids’ first question when they heard I’d been in the woods was “did you find any geo caches”?  Umm no but I did find a really cute family :)

Love the mommy/daddy moments here :)

Pretty Leaves…

Posted on November 5, 2011

Just a quickie post so I don’t fall off my blogging wagon lol but I’m out of town for a family wedding in Des Moines today.  Here’s a couple of fun fall images of my pretty girl…well one of my pretty girls :)

Rachael is modeling a pretty headband from the fabulous Lexi Grace Couture….check her out on Etsy HERE

I just love this little family!  They’ve been coming to me since little Elizabeth was born and it’s been such a joy to watch her grow.  I love red heads and I may have squealed the first time I saw her…..for sure in my head if not out loud.  And then when I got to meet her big brother I was in love.  Brody took a few sessions to warm up to me and he doesn’t have a great love for having his pictures taken but I think he’s the perfect example of how it really pays off to stick with the same photographer.  He totally stole the show for their family session and I think it made a huge difference that I’ve worked with him several times now and he was very comfortable with me.  I knew him well enough now to know what I can and can’t get him to do and as you can see we got lots of smiles!

We started off with a family one and some of the kids together…

Then we went for a little walk (umm hello favorite picture!!!)

Then we got one of mom and dad too….so important :)

Then Elizabeth got the idea that she needed lipstick….and without it her world would end (careful there Elizabeth your age is showing) and we got a picture like this:

Which then resulted in a family picture like this:

Mom and dad were good sports about it and the way I look at it is that they have many years ahead of them of “perfect” family pictures but for today she wanted lipstick and it’s very who she is today and it perfectly captures her little personality (that may or may not have something to do with that red hair!).

And then Brody brought out all his cuteness and stole the show :)

And well…he IS a little boy :)

You can see more of their session on the facebook fan page!

Would you like to win a free session?

Posted on October 31, 2011

When I first told my assistant about this idea she told me no….bad bad idea Jennifer.  But I’m kind of stubborn….. so Jennifer wins….we’ll see in the end though who was right- me or Nichole!  I’m a REALLY bad blogger, Facebook has made me a little lazy with my website because it’s much easier to just upload pictures there and reach over 4500 of my fans.  However, I have a small portion of clients who aren’t on Facebook at all and I’m always feeling bad that when they book a session they don’t know what fun new things I have because well…they haven’t seen them!  So in an effort to be a better blogger I will be giving away a FREE session to anyone who catches me missing a day from now through the end of December!  Now keep in mind my schedule is a little crazy and no two days are ever alike.  I’ll do my best to post in the morning but it might be evening, you just never know.

So first up is this cute little family who also happens to be great friends of mine….so I might be slightly partial to their cuteness :) .  I have had so many toddler girls this year and it’s amazing to me how much alike they all are and yet so different in their little personalities.  This session was to celebrate Olivia turning two but mom wasn’t sure how she’d do so they came prepared for family pictures in case they needed to be in any.

She started off really well…(it’s hard to blow kisses with pumpkins in your hands)

Then she started to get a little more comfortable with me and decided to show me her tummy….

Next we decided to have a little fun with the whole family….and what kid doesn’t like to have mom and dad swing them?  Umm that would be Olivia.  Check out the look she gave me lol!

She quickly recovered thought and we got a great family picture!

then we were on our way to exploring, playing with leaves and just being cute…

And then it was time for Angry Birds and Olivia was done :)

And if you ARE on Facebook you can see more of their session in the Oct session gallery!

Exciting news!!

Posted on October 5, 2011

Hi everyone!  I’m writing with exciting news!  My 2011 calendar is back open!  Due to the high demand that I can’t even try to wrap my head around, I’ve continued to do all that I can to be accommodating.

As of May, my calendar has been booked solid and I’ve been going non-stop ever since.  While brainstorming for 2012, I have decided to make a few changes so that I can be as available as possible while maintaining a highest standard of business at an affordable cost to my clients.  While doing so much planning I realized just how much help I’ve received by hiring an assistant and decided to take that one step further.  By taking full advantage of the help that I have, I have been able to work on a plan to implement our great ideas for next year into this year.  While not everything will be revealed now, I’m starting small and opening the calendar.  I’m also revealing a few other things so keep reading!
More Sessions:
Beginning today, I am scheduling sessions through the end of November.  Because I have a lot booked already, there are a few exceptions to keep in mind.  I’ve listed them below.  Also, be sure to check the website for more scheduling details before calling or emailing the studio!
For October: Evenings and weekends are full, but daytime spots are flexible.  If you have a session booked already, and you would like to move it, just call me!

For November: Evenings are available, but limited.  Weekends are full.  Again, if you have a session booked already, and you would like to move it, just call!

On Location: the weather is quickly getting cold and the time change is just around the corner.  That being said, I can’t schedule anymore outdoor sessions, but the studio is up for grabs.  Remember, its tiny in there…built for babies and kids…so full on family sessions won’t work so well.  However, I am willing to squeeze mom and dad into one or two photos if we can work it out and you don’t mind being cozy!
Package Adjustments:
All full and newborn sessions now include a set of 4×6 prints!

Note: this package adjustment took place beginning July of 2011 for all sessions booked on or after July 1st 2011.

Even with the little heat wave we’ve had again the light is starting to change and fall is just around the corner!  A photographer’s job is to of course capture the subject but the first thing we do is to read the light and let me just say if I could bottle up the light from this session and sell it to other photographers I’d be a millionaire a million times over.  Maya was a little too busy to stop and have her pictures taken but that didn’t stop us from getting some sweet smiles….and she totally cracked me up playing with sticks and dirt in her pretty pink dress!  Speaking of dress if you’re looking for clothing ideas for your next session this family did a fantastic job and I love the colors they chose!  Right now I’m doing more sessions in a week than there are days so I can’t possibly blog them all….if you want to see all my recent sessions check out the facebook fan page!!

Pretty sure these kids could sell lemonade to just about anyone….hands down these are my favorite mini sessions we’ve done this year.  Summer is my favorite time of year and my kids make lemon shake ups as often as I’ll let them and they love having a lemonade stand too.  My living room is the prettiest shade of yellow and I know I’ll be hanging a big lemonade stand collage up soon!  Here’s just a few of my favorite’s but as always the facebook fan page is updated almost every day with recent sessions and I can fit a lot more there than I can on the blog!!

We haven’t had many beautiful days this Summer, but lucky for Amy (who had to reschedule because of rain) we ended up with a gorgeous day for outdoor pictures! Her little boy was turning one and couldn’t have been happier the day of his session. Family photos are more than fun when babies are all smiles! And kudos to Dad for his smiles and being such a good sport. A lot of dads don’t like family pictures and he was all about recording memories for his little boy! My favorite picture from the session is of Mom and Dad together. They look beautiful and I love capturing images of just Mom and Dad since they seem to be forgotten after the wedding!

My new favorite thing these days is to see babies come into my studio that were here a year ago for newborn pictures. It’s so fun to watch them grow and see just how much they’ve changed in such a short time! The session I’m featuring today is from Marlena and her little boy. This time last year, she came to me with her new baby and dad’s childhood Tonka truck. While little man no longer fits inside the truck for a nap, we sat him in it just to see how big he’s gotten!

Can you believe it’s been a week and I’ve only missed a post for one day?! :)   I’m very excited about this!  Yesterday, I was so excited to be on top of my to-do list that I waltzed right out of my office and completely forgot to post my latest session!  But, I’m back today and showcasing Michelle’s family.  We met downtown for an outdoor, kids-only session.  Since two of her children are older, we opted for an urban feel with brick and buildings instead of the park.  This was my third time getting to photograph the little guy though…. look at those eyes and tell me he’s not adorable!
