Feb Mini Session: Little Bookworm!

Posted on January 1, 2012

February’s mini session will be Saturday February 4th with 12 spots open from 9:00-noon.  February’s theme is “Little Bookworm”!  We have another great set in the works and this is the perfect session for little ones who love to read.  I’ll have lots of favorites here but you’ll want to bring in your favorite books, too.  This set will work for all ages as well as siblings.

Mini sessions cost $65 and last 15 minutes, and are for babies and children only (up to three children).  Each mini session now includes 5-7 images on a full resolution CD (with a signed print release).  Payment is due at the time of booking.  Once you have confirmed your time slot with Jennifer please use the “buy now” button below!

Hey there…

Just a super fast post on my way to bed to say NO I did not forget to blog :) .  I’ve just been CRAZY busy today working on February’s mini session set.  My husband enjoyed watching ME put one together instead of him for once lol.  I’ll be back in the office tomorrow answering emails and phone calls and will have a more fun blog to share :)

‘Twas the night before Christmas…

Posted on December 24, 2011

….and all through the house are 25+ family members eating lots of soup, cookies (and these amazing brownies with marshmallow and peanut butter topping (hello!), with grandma playing the piano and everyone singing Christmas Carols.  Kids jingling bells wearing an assortment of reindeer antlers and dancing of course.  I’m notorious for leaving my camera in the car…in another room….at home etc. when it comes to family functions so in true Jennifer fashion here are a few quick cell phone snaps of some of our singing “chaos”….and two cuties who had this year’s honor of missing their two front teeth :)

Giving Back

Posted on December 23, 2011

Christmas is just around the corner and it’s a time where we think beyond ourselves to serve others.

Chic Critique Forum would like to donate $5000 to help this little girl with Down Syndrome get out of a neglected orphanage and adopted into a loving home but they can’t do it without you.

Meet Charity. Read her story.

If you would like to give back this holiday season, HERE’S HOW YOU CAN HELP:
It will only take 5 minutes of your time but could change her life.

  • Join Chic Critique Forum with an annual membership and they’ll donate $19 towards her adoption grant
  • Share on Facebook and Twitter by saying: “Help this little girl with Down Syndrome get adopted and out of an orphanage: http://tinyurl.com/cz85bwz”
  • Pin her picture on Pinterest with the text: “Help this little girl with Down Syndrome get adopted and out of an orphanage: http://tinyurl.com/cz85bwz”
  • Copy and paste this blog post onto your own blog
  • Share her story with your friends & family via email
  • Donate directly to her grant

$39 for an annual forum membership is really not that much when you consider how much you will be helping sweet, little Charity. It’s the same price of an action set, card templates, a dinner for 2, a set of Legos, a belt at Anthropologie…but this $39 will make ALL the difference for her. Please help them to help her!

Organizationally challenged…

Posted on December 18, 2011

Organizationally challenged…that would be me.  If you had a session with me in November/December I just want to thank you for not turning me into the hoarders tv show or signing me up for a prop intervention.  Some of you have been with me long enough to remember my studio down town…that had LOTS of space and it’s a little “interesting” seeing me cram into my home studio.  It gets the job done and I love being home but it’s very challenging because unfortunately as my prop stash grows my four walls stay the same size.  My assistant and good friend Nichole had the pleasure of doing a big huge cleaning and reorganizing of the studio earlier this year but since then I’ve added several new sets and have been spoiled rotten by several vendors who send me lots of fun packages of hats and headbands etc.  Cleaning the studio was top of my list for my “vacation” and I have to show off her idea because not only did it turn out really well but I have been searching pinterest and googling and checking message boards and hands down it’s the best idea I’ve seen for a stash of my size.  Somewhere out there I know there are other photography studios and mom’s of little girls that would love to see her idea.  So here are some better pictures than the lovely cell phone picture I posted on facebook!  I was originally just going to upload to pinterest to share but decided to put it here so that if you click on the picture it came back here and I could answer the questions I’ve already been getting.  These are just simple inexpensive curtain rods with the rings that hold drapes (sold with the curtain rods).  I just purchased where I happened to be while out running errands and purchased the rods at KMart and the rings at Walmart.  Walmart had the cheaper rings and I’m sure the rods too but I didn’t check on those.  I needed 84 rings to hang everything I have but I have lots more things coming to me so I wanted to be sure I had room to grow.  I initially bought 5 rods but my wall was too small, five would have been ideal.  Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of wall space left but should I need to add more rods in the future I’ll be able to move some things around and put more on another wall.  I still kept my headbands with the teeny elastic bands on them on my little picture frame boards and those work well there.

Mini Moments Club

Posted on December 8, 2011

I’ve had some questions about the Mini Moments Club so I thought I’d do a little post to talk  some more about it and hopefully answer some questions!   If I still didn’t answer your question or you have a special scenario just let me know and I’ll be happy to answer any you still have!

I noticed throughout the year that a lot of my clients signed up for multiple mini sessions…and I also noticed (as I’m sure all of you have) that mini sessions book extremely fast!  So, I decided to offer a perk to my most loyal clients and give you the option of VIP access to minis all year long!  Here’s how it works:

Membership is $249.00, due at sign-up.  This price includes four mini sessions that you can use anytime you want throughout the year.  While monthly minis will happen on a Saturday morning, club members are allowed to schedule anytime Monday-Friday once a set has been featured!*  Sessions cannot be combined and the Mini Moments Club fee is only applicable for club membership and cannot be applied to another session.  All sessions must be redeemed before December 2012.

*The following options are available to members only:

-Should a mini set be finished early, members may schedule their session before the month’s feature date.  Sets finished early will be posted to the facebook fan page.  You can also schedule your mini session during a month that a set is not being featured…..so for example if you love the angel wings but your baby isn’t sitting up in Jan you can come in in July and do them!

-Members will receive a “VIP” email one day sooner than the rest of our newsletter list.  This will allow you one extra day to book a prime Saturday spot if you’d like one or to decide if you’d like to take advantage of the next month’s theme on a week day time at your convenience.

Here are some of the questions I’ve been getting…..

Q: Do I have to buy one for each child?

A: No!  All mini sessions include up to three children.  However…depending on the theme will depend on if we can get a picture of them together or only individually.  For example the January theme is “Vintage Angels”, we only have two pairs of wings and due to the size of the wings and the size of the set babies must be able to sit up on their own and we can only fit one child at a time.  So this particular theme would not work for a family wanting a picture of all the kids together or if they have a baby that does not sit up yet.

Q: Do all of my kids have to do each mini session?

A: No!  I have two girls and a boy and I would certainly not want to bring Carter to “Darling Diva” day!  You can mix them up however you like!

Q: Is there a deadline to purchase the membership by?

A: No….at least not yet!  In order to keep it a VIP type deal obviously at some point I’ll have to cut off membership to ensure that I can get everyone in.  We do have  a “magic number” that we are a third of a way to and IF we get close I’ll post an announcement when we have ten spots left.  Based on the comments and emails I’ve gotten I think a lot of people are asking for one for Christmas or buying them after Christmas so it wouldn’t surprise me if we reach that number in January.

Q: What if I like the idea of the membership but I don’t need that many pictures throughout the year?

A: Sorry I can’t help you there….I have 50 million pictures of my kids and I don’t think you can ever have too many cute pictures of them!!

Q: Will you be doing the same themes you did last year?

A: We are doing them every month now except for December and have some really fun new themes.  We’ll be bringing the favorites back…baby chicks, darling diva, lemonade stands etc. but we may change them up a bit so that families that did them last year and loved them can do them again and not have identical pictures.

**Mini sets including live animals or time sensitive props (i.e. fresh lemons or baby chicks) can not be guaranteed after its featured Saturday*.

To purchase use the “buy now” button on the pricing and scheduling page under the Mini Moments Club section.  A special voucher will be emailed to you.

And just to let you know for January’s “Vintage Angel” sessions we have added a pair of completely amazing and gorgeous pink wings for the girls as well as some super cute matching accessories…for the boys we’re keeping it simple with the gold wings.  I’ll also have a second backdrop option to the one that’s being shown below and *may* have a third option as well :)   All will be set up and you’ll choose that day.  This will work for children of all ages but if you’re bringing a baby they MUST be able to sit up on their own.  Vintage Angel sessions are Saturday Jan 7th and I have a 9:15, 9:30, 9:45 and 10:15 left.   Sessions are 65.00 which includes a 15 minute session,  5-7 images full resolution on a cd with print release and includes up to three children.

Winding down for the year….

Posted on December 7, 2011

I thought I’d do a quick post to let everyone know the order of what I’m working through as I wind down for the year.  Here’s my to do list!

1. Finish all sessions today, all sessions will be uploaded TODAY!  I’ll also be uploading to facebook so you can show your cuties off to your friends :)

2. All cd’s will be mailed out by tomorrow.  I’m still having problems with the post office delivering cd’s broken even after going in twice to talk to them and following all of their instructions (including paying more lol).  Because of this I have a HUGE list to work through of people that need a second one etc.  I will set up a little assembly line and will hopefully get through them all very quickly.  If you’re needing yours asap for Christmas cards you’re welcome to pick it up and avoid the angry mailman that keeps throwing Christmas packages on my envelopes!

3. Design work.  If you’ve ordered a collage, are waiting on a book/album etc. these will all be done by tomorrow.  If I’m waiting on you for your favorite picture to go on the cover please send it to me asap.

4. Mini Moments Club vouchers will be mailed out as well.  I still have members trickling in so I’m hoping to do as many at one time as I can.  These will be emailed to you.

5. Party!  Ha ha I have been running so hard this year I can’t wait for a little break!!  I have a few newborns I’m waiting on to make their arrival but I’ll be busy doing things behind the scenes like updating my website, working on new cd packaging to avoid broken cd’s…..cleaning my poor studio that is so full I can hardly turn around in it lol!

Thanks again to everyone that has been to see me this year and has made 2011 a FABULOUS year!

Here’s a little sweetie that came in to see me on Monday :)

Oops! Free session give away!

Posted on December 5, 2011

Congrats to Andrea Vickers who caught me not blogging yesterday!  I knew I was going to forget…so we’ll see if this teaches me a lesson!  Yesterday was a busy day with church, soup at grandmas, prop building and buying, Christmas tree setting up and then finished the day with a QC photographer girls night out!  Needless to say the blog never crossed my mind!  If you want to win a free session and have no idea what I’m talking about see this blog post HERE.  My new computer is going to be here today…not sure who is more excited…me for finally having a working computer or my husband who is tired of talking to the crazy apple people who messed up my order and then having to listen to me whine about it.  Today I have a sweet little model coming in to model some new props and sets that I have and then I am ClOSED-ish for the rest of the month.  I have a couple of newborns due that I’ll be squeezing in since they don’t understand me being on vacation but that’s it!

Here’s one from the session I’m currently working on :)

PS…I still have a few vintage angel mini session spots open again….scroll down a few posts to see the details!

Schedule update

Posted on December 2, 2011

So after the booking flurry yesterday (blizzard would be more accurate lol) I thought I’d post a little update here :)

Vintage Angel mini sessions have four more spots: 9:15, 9:30, 9;45 and 10:15.  I just did some more shopping for these this morning and while they will look similar to the ones last year we’re adding pink wings as an option for the girls (you’re going to die when you see them!), some other accessories for girls and will also have the option of at least one other set…possibly a total of three sets to choose from that day!  If you have a boy and you’re wondering what to have him wear just check with me and I’ll tell you what my little guy is wearing!

For the Mini Moments Membership we sold lots of them but I also had a lot of people asking if there would be a deadline or cut off for them.   Basically there isn’t BUT at some point we may have to cut it off to ensure that we can fit all the VIP members in. I didn’t want to put that in the newsletter because I just had no idea how popular the idea would be and didn’t want to have any unnecessary hype. That said we’re about a third of the way to the cut off number. I have NO idea if we’ll reach it or even come close. I’ll make an announcement on here/Facebook when we have ten spots left (IF we reach that point).  Based on the emails I got my best guess would be we’ll hit that in January after everyone is done with Christmas shopping :)

For regular sessions:

January has room for eight more sessions, three more newborns

February has room for eight more sessions, plenty of newborn openings

March has one week booked and the rest have openings for sessions and newborns.

Apple is apparently had delivering my computer I paid to have “rush” shipped to me….I don’t even want to know what regular shipping is as it was supposed to be delivered to me no later than yesterday and as of now has still not shipped.  SO…I’m still on a “one picture a day” diet until the new speedy computer comes.  The important thing is that all sessions are getting done on time…but hang onto your hat as the fan page will be blowing up with cuteness once I can show everyone off!
