What a difference a day makes.  Yesterday I had a TEENY little five pound baby girl and today I had a bouncing baby boy who was 9 lbs 5oz when he was born.  Check out those cheeks!  All my babies were big so whenever I get one over 9lbs I kind of want to keep them lol.  He was a peach and let us do just about whatever we wanted.  Here’s a little sneak peek to tide mom and dad over until the rest are ready!  Hats and diaper covers by Made with Delight and bed from Sally Bubblegum.

Little Miss Harper came to see me today and oh.my.word.  She was SO tiny, only five pounds!  As tiny as all of my things are it’s amazing the difference a couple of pounds makes with newborns!  I just finished up the session and I’m headed to dinner with friends in a bit so here’s just a few to tide mom over until the rest are ready!

Still here…

Just a quick post to say hi…I didn’t forget to blog today….but it’s been a looooong day and it’s going to be a looooong week for me so here’s just one favorite of mine.  I’m going WAY back to a newborn that was actually the first of the year (that flower is just too cute on her!).  I have one tomorrow that may be my last for 2011.  Any guesses as to how many newborns I had come see me this year?  I don’t know either but I’m going to count and maybe do a little newborn slideshow for 2011 :)

Organizationally challenged…

Posted on December 18, 2011

Organizationally challenged…that would be me.  If you had a session with me in November/December I just want to thank you for not turning me into the hoarders tv show or signing me up for a prop intervention.  Some of you have been with me long enough to remember my studio down town…that had LOTS of space and it’s a little “interesting” seeing me cram into my home studio.  It gets the job done and I love being home but it’s very challenging because unfortunately as my prop stash grows my four walls stay the same size.  My assistant and good friend Nichole had the pleasure of doing a big huge cleaning and reorganizing of the studio earlier this year but since then I’ve added several new sets and have been spoiled rotten by several vendors who send me lots of fun packages of hats and headbands etc.  Cleaning the studio was top of my list for my “vacation” and I have to show off her idea because not only did it turn out really well but I have been searching pinterest and googling and checking message boards and hands down it’s the best idea I’ve seen for a stash of my size.  Somewhere out there I know there are other photography studios and mom’s of little girls that would love to see her idea.  So here are some better pictures than the lovely cell phone picture I posted on facebook!  I was originally just going to upload to pinterest to share but decided to put it here so that if you click on the picture it came back here and I could answer the questions I’ve already been getting.  These are just simple inexpensive curtain rods with the rings that hold drapes (sold with the curtain rods).  I just purchased where I happened to be while out running errands and purchased the rods at KMart and the rings at Walmart.  Walmart had the cheaper rings and I’m sure the rods too but I didn’t check on those.  I needed 84 rings to hang everything I have but I have lots more things coming to me so I wanted to be sure I had room to grow.  I initially bought 5 rods but my wall was too small, five would have been ideal.  Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of wall space left but should I need to add more rods in the future I’ll be able to move some things around and put more on another wall.  I still kept my headbands with the teeny elastic bands on them on my little picture frame boards and those work well there.

Another late night post….today was filled with Christmas preparations and a little bit of studio organizing….crazy busy day!  Here’s a little Christmas share :)

This little beauty came in to see me this week and I’m in love with her hair..seriously isn’t it the best!?  The one request mom had for props was for my little white stool.  She’s only the second baby I’ve ever gotten to fit on it and the first one was only 4lbs!  Luckily Gabriella liked being all curled up!

I’ve had the privilege of photographing Miss Lily a couple of times now and she’s a little more on the stoic side when it comes to pictures.  I was so excited when she gave me more than one….smirk lol!  She actually smiled!  And she looked so pretty in her Christmas dress, I just love this dress on her!

Also a little booking update we still have four spots open for our first mini sessions of the year “Vintage Angel” we’ve added a pair of pink wings for the girls as well as a second and possibly a third backdrop option.  Times left are 9:15, 9:30, 9:45, and 10:15.  Details can be seen HERE.

For January I have room for ONE more newborn (I limit newborns to two due dates per week since babies come when they are good and ready and I can be sure to get you right in.) and four more sessions!

For the longest stretch I had all boys and now it’s switched back to girls.  So funny that they seem to come in like that.  This little one is baby girl number three for this family and mama had a whole slew of cute things for her!

Little Miss Kelsey came to see me yesterday and as you can see was just as sweet as can be :)

Beds from Sally Bubblegum

Red headband and Christmas hat from Made With Delight

Knitted cacoon from Avah’s Lil’ Tutu’s

Watch me grow (Davenport baby photographer)

Posted on December 12, 2011

I’m sure you’ve heard me say this before but my most favorite part of my job is watching families grow.  Rather than just showing Miss Ambrielle’s most recent first birthday session I thought it would be fun to go back and show her grow…even from before she was born :)

As you can see she was bright eyed and bushy tailed for her newborn session…none of those peacefully sleeping shots for me thankyouverymuch :)

she won this cute little hat in a give away last Christmas and got to come in and model it…. and then she came in with mom for some Mother’s day pictures.

For six months we took it outside for a family session and then she got to come in and play hat model again for Made with Delight….which she did quite well!

And then it was time for cake….she was quite serious about the whole cake thing but we got lots of other smiles!  Umm and seriously….how cute are those boots!?
